Hey there! Welcome to The Intelligent Jobsite.
If you’re a project manager, estimator, or anyone really, working in construction, you’ve probably felt it too: the industry is starting to change fast. There’s a flood of new apps, platforms, AI tools, and systems all promising to make your life easier. But let’s be real — most of it either doesn’t speak our language, doesn’t fit how we actually work, or ends up collecting dust after a few months and a lot of times, many thousands of dollars later.
I started this blog because I believe there’s a better way, and a community of people out there that aren’t quite sure where to start
Why I’m Doing This
My name’s Hank, and I’ve been working as a project manager and estimator in construction for 15 years, and in the industry as a whole for 24 years. I started at the age of 15, working summers while in school, and worked my way up through various field positions to the role that I am in today.
Like a lot of people in our industry, I’ve seen the gap between the promises of technology and what actually gets used on the jobsite. I have always had an interest in technology and have served as the unofficial IT department for our company and in my family. I’ve tested more tools than I can remember that have slowed us down instead of speeding us up. I’ve seen smart solutions ignored because they were too complicated. And I’ve seen talented people burn out and become frustrated because we’re all stretched thin, trying to do more with less.
But I’ve also seen what happens when the right tool fits into the right workflow — it can transform the way work gets done and provide actual efficiencies with tangible results.
That’s what The Intelligent Jobsite is all about: cutting through the noise and sharing practical, real-world ways to use technology and AI to work smarter — not harder.
What You’ll Find Here
This blog is built for construction professionals, and anyone who wants to try to stay ahead without getting overwhelmed. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t consider myself a professional by any means but I feel I have enough real world use with enough products to at least pass on what I have learned. Through this journey I’ll be sharing:
- Practical use cases for AI and software — the kind that actually save you time or money
- Tools and apps I’ve tested as a PM and estimator — the good, the bad, and the ones I still use every day
- Tips for streamlining workflows — from estimating to site coordination and everything in between
- Honest reviews, step-by-step guides, and case studies
- And maybe the occasional rant when something overpromises and underdelivers 😉
I’m not a tech guru or Silicon Valley consultant. I’m a regular construction guy who happens to like technology and the tools that promote the promise to make life easier. If you’re the same — or curious — you’re in the right place.
Why This Matters
As all of you know, we don’t have time to waste chasing every shiny new thing. But we also can’t afford to ignore the shift that’s happening in our industry. Especially with the explosion of AI, everything seems to be changing by the day.
AI and tech aren’t coming — they’re already here. But we need them to work for us, not the other way around. My goal is to help bridge that gap — and make sure people in construction get the benefit without all of the headaches.
Whether you’re just starting to explore new tools or already deep into digital workflows, I want this to be a space where you can find useful, grounded insights that actually make a difference on your jobsite.
What’s Next
In the next post, I’ll be sharing 3 AI Tools That Actually Save Me Time In My Day To Day Routine — a quick rundown of apps and automations I’ve put to the test and still rely on. I’ll be trying to get new posts out weekly, looking to drop them every Monday morning. As I have a full time job, and busy family life, that may not always be the case but will ensure to communicate if there are delays.
If you’ve made it this far and it sounds interesting, stick around — and subscribe if you want new posts sent your way.
